Parish of Campo de Ourique
The Parish of
Campo de Ourique,
located in the central area of the city of Lisbon, next to the
Historic Center of Lisbon; was created with the merger of the former parishes of
Santa Isabel and Santo
Constable. The parish also comprises lands that belonged to the parish of Campolide.
The Parish of
Campo de Ourique
is the twelfth most populous parish in Lisbon.

The
Parish of Campo de Ourique is 5 km away from the Lisbon Cathedral, and, much less than
Historic Center. Reason why it is a good option for your stay in the Portuguese capital,
being relatively close to the center.
Area and Population
Stable resident population
With 1.65 km²,
Parish of Belém has a population of 22,146 inhabitants
(INE, 2021). In 2011, the parish had 22,120 inhabitants (idem), with practically no drop in population
resident during this period.
Tourist attractions
The Church of Santo Constable, Cinema Europa (from the 1930s), the municipal market,
the Church of Santa Isabel, the local bars and restaurants.
Church of the Holy Constable
The
Igreja do Santo Condestável is the most important monument of the parish’s religious heritage.
It was built in honor of Constable
Nuno Álvares Pereira, also known as
Nun'Álvares and
São Nuno de Santa Maria, emblematic character of the
Portuguese history.

Location
Located in the central area of Lisbon, the parish of
Campo de Ourique
it borders, to the north, with the parish of
Campolide, to the east, with the parish in
Santo Antônio, to the south with the
parish of
Estrela,
and to the west with the parish of
Alcântara.
Campo de Ourique attractions
Among the various attractions, stand out the Cinema Europa, the Municipal Market, Viaduct Duarte Pacheco, the Monument to
Maria da Fonte, the house where Amália Rodrigues lived and much more.
Amália Rodrigues House Museum
At number 138, Rua de São Bento, the famous fado singer Amália Rodrigues lived for several decades.
