1. Torre de Belém

Praça do Comércio (or Terreiro do Paço) is in Baixa de Lisboa, near the Tagus River. One of the largest in Europe, it sheltered for two centuries the royal palaces and was destroyed in 1755, when the tremor that devastated Lisbon.

6. Rossio

7. São Jorge Castle

Built between the 10th and 11th centuries, the Castle of São Jorge - declared a National Monument - was conquered from the Moors by King Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal, in 1147. Residence of the noble Moors was part of the old medieval citadel. It still served the Kings of Portugal until the sixteenth century.
