The former province of Low Beira (Beira Baixa), located in central-eastern Portugal, comprised the present Castelo Branco District, in addition to the municipalities of Pampilhosa da Serra (which belongs to the District of Coimbra) and Mação (belonging to the District of Santarém). Castelo Branco

Capital of the district and the municipality of Castelo Branco, the city of Castelo Branco (34,000 inhabitants), besides being a major regional center, is an important tourist destination thanks to its medieval Templar Castle, Episcopal Palace, its gastronomy and cultural life. Lively nightlife.

Belmonte

Covilhã
