Braga and Viana do Castelo
Minho Wines are produced in Braga and Viana do Castelo districts. Braga, with 216.992 hl, is the major green wine producer,
while Viana do Castelo produces 187.954 hl. Braga produces 53,58% of green wine total production (404946 hl). Viana do Castelo production
share is 46,42%.
Both districts produce most
white wine (Braga, 79,45% and Viana do Castelo, with 84,53% of white
wines).
Braga District
In the Braga district, major five producers are Celorico de Basto (61.791 hl), Barcelos (29.766 hl), Amares (24.845 hl), Vizela (19.761 hl)
and Guimarães (18.723 hl) [IVV, 2020-2021]. Celorico de Basto alone produces 28,47% of all green wine produced in Braga district.

Braga the Capital of the Minho
The city of Braga, the city capital of
Minho also produces some DOP Green Wine (4.508 hl). This symbolic production
is a tradition in most Minho terroirs.
Celorico de Basto
The municipality of
Celorico de Basto, with 17.666 inhabitants (INE 2021), produces
28,47% of Braga district production.
Barcelos
The municipality of
Barcelos, with 116.777 inhabitants (INE 2021), produces
13,71% of Braga district production.
Amares
The municipality of
Amares, with 18.591 inhabitants (INE 2021), produces
11,45% of Braga district production.
Viana do Castelo District
In the Viana do Castelo district, major five producers are Melgaço (53.760 hl), Ponte de Lima (53.107 hl), Monção (46.119 hl), Ponte da
Barca (25.224 hl) and Viana do Castelo (5.745 hl).
Melgaço, Ponte de Lima and Monção produce 81,39% of all green wine produced in Viana
do Castelo.

28,60% of Viana do Castelo district production.
