Casino and Beaches

The Figueira da Foz Casino, opened in 1884, is considered the oldest casino in the Iberian Peninsula.

Figueira da Foz Beaches

The city of Figueira da Foz (in the homonymous municipality), is the second most important urban agglomeration in the district (state) of Coimbra, to which it belongs. Located at the mouth of the River Mondego and on the edge of the Atlantic, Figueira da Foz attracts many visitors to its beaches, especially during the summer, from July to September.


Water sports

Buarcos Beaches: beautiful beach protected from the north winds by Cabo do Mondego; good for windsurfing, in the Parish of Buarcos and São Julião.

Praias de Quiaios: beach further north of the city; good for surfing and bodyboarding. It has bars and restaurants in the Parish of Quiaios.

Cabedelo Beach: the best for water sports (surfing, bodyboarding, kitesurfing...)

Figueira da Foz do Mondego

The city of Figueira da Foz is located on the Atlantic Coast, next to the mouth of the River Mondego. Important fishing port in the cod whose ships arrived in Newfoundland (Canada). Another interesting highlight: the salt pans of the Mondego estuary.
