Trás-os-Montes Wines

The vineyards of Trás-os-Montes DOC are situated in the northeast of Portugal, in a region of mountains and valleys, where vineyard culture is a centuries-old tradition. The vines produce differentiated wines according to the particular characteristics of the following three sub-regions: Chaves, Valpaços or Planalto Mirandês.

DOC Trás-os-Montes

Red or white, DOC Trás-os-Montes wines delight the palate of the most demanding gourmets. Elaborated from the grapes that more adapt to the terroir of the region, like Gouveio and Malvásia Fina for the whites. Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca are the ones that give DOC Trás-os-Montes its personality, giving them freshness and vigor.

Main Breeds

For the production of DOC Trás-os-Montes red, the following varieties are used: Tinta Amarela, Bastardo, Tinta Gorda, Touriga nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, among others.

For white wines, the following varieties are used: Viosinho (local caste), Gouveio, Côdega de Larinho, Syria, Rabigato, Malvásia Fina and Fernão Pires, among others.

Fruity and balanced wines

The wines of Trás-os-Montes are balanced and fruity, with accentuated freshness. In addition, they are full bodied and with intense aroma.
