Setúbal Wines
Producing area of white wines of great prestige, the Península de Setúbal has a tradition that dates back centuries to the elaboration of
its wines. The land of the world-famous Moscatel de Setúbal also produces other internationally renowned wines such as the famous Periquita
red (from the name of the property where it was produced), in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão.

Denominations of Origin Setúbal
In the lands of this same Peninsula of Setúbal are elaborated the following denominations: DO Setúbal, DO Palmela and IGP Península de Setúbal.
Main Breeds
For the production of the Setúbal Peninsula wines are used several national castes, such as Castelão (or Periquita, as it is locally called),
for red wines and Fernão Pires, Moscatel de Setúbal and Arinto, for white wines.
For regional wines (PGI) the following varieties are authorized: Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, Touriga Franca,
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Excellent Wines
Amongst the best-known and most renowned wines, the Moscatel de Setúbal ("The Sun in a Bottle") comes with a Moscatel Roxo version, followed by
Periquita, a world-renowned wine, as well as several other wines produced under the name IGP Regional) Peninsula of Setúbal.
