Ribatejo Wines

The wines of the Ribatejo PDO are crossed by the Tagus River. In these vineyards wines with IGP "Tejo" are also produced. The Denomination of Origin of Ribatejo comprises six sub-regions: Almeirim, Cartaxo, Chamusca, Coruche, Santarém and Tomar. As regards breeds, traditional varieties are used in the production of Ribatejo wines, namely Trincadeira, Touriga (reds) and Fernão Pires e Arinto (white).

DOC Ribatejo

There are 6 sub-regions in Ribatejo vineyards: Almeirim, Cartaxo, Chamusca, Coruche, Santarém e Tomar.

Main Breeds

For the production of wines from DOC Ribatejo, the following varieties are used: Syria and Malvasia Fina (whites), Aragonez and Trincadeira (reds), among others.

The white wines of DOC Ribatejo (DOP) are neither very full-bodied nor have high alcoholic content, which is why the freshness of its acidity is one of its characteristics.

Excellent Red and Whites

These red - such as Cartaxo, Conde de Vimioso - and white wines - such as Cabeça de Toiri and Casal de Coelheira - with a lot of tradition are considered one of the best in the country.
