The parish of Santa Clara, formerly an agricultural area that supplied the capital, replaced the former parishes from Charneca and from Ameixoeira. The parish is located in the extreme north of Lisbon. Like the neighboring parishes of Lumiar, Olivais and also Carnide, Santa Clara It is a dynamic parish with strong population growth, with parts of the Alta de Lisboa neighborhood in its territory.

The parish of Santa Clara is the ninth most populous parish in the municipality of Lisbon.

The Freguesia de Santa Clara is located on the northern limit of the City of Lisbon. From the Cathedral of Lisbon (Centro) to Santa Clara is 11 km. See also Complete guide:

Area and Population

Growth of the resident population
With 3.36 km², the Freguesia de Santa Clara has a population of 23,650 inhabitants (INE, 2021). In 2011, the parish had 22,480 inhabitants (idem), with a population growth resident during this period.

The Garden of Quinta de Santa Clara (Jardim da Ameixoeira), the Santa Clara Market, the Igreja da Encarnação, the Urban Park of Vale da Ameixoeira; bars and restaurants, among other attractions.


The Garden of Santa Clara

The Jardim da Quinta de Santa Clara, located between Rua da Ameixoeira and the Ameixoeira Metro Station, it is a large green space in the Parish of Santa Clara. In addition to a well-kept and restful place, in the garden events are organized for inhabitants and visitors.

Location

The Freguesia de Santa Clara, in the extreme north of the City of Lisbon, is limited to the north and northeast with the municipality of Loures, to the north and northwest, with the municipality of Odivelas, to the east and southeast, with the parish of Olivais and, to the south and southwest, with the parish of Lumiar.

Main urban roads

Metro station Ameixoeira. Azinhaga da Cidade is one of the main arteries of parish. Other important routes: Calçada de Carriche, Estrada do Forte da Ameixoeira, Largo do Minister and others.
